Key Business Highlights

Business Overview

This established window cleaning business has been operating in the Kent area for over 16 years, serving residential clients exclusively. The business is run solely by the owner, myself, Paul, who has built a loyal customer base over time — many clients have been with the business since its start.

The service area covers Folkestone, Hythe, Hawkinge, Densole, Cheriton, Seabrook, Lyminge, Capel-le-Ferne, and Peene/Sellindge. Each round can be sold individually, providing flexibility for potential buyers. All clients are on a regular schedule and pay reliably, with occasional ad hoc requests that offer additional income opportunities.

The business operates using a water-fed pole system, which all clients are happy with. Current operations require only 16 to 20 hours per week, leaving significant room for growth for a new owner or expansion of services. The sale includes the structured handover of the client base, and Paul is willing to provide full support, including training the new owner if required.

Client Base and Revenue Model

The business currently serves 121 regular residential clients, all on recurring cleaning schedules. In addition to this core client base, the business receives a steady flow of ad-hoc and one-off requests, particularly during the spring and summer months.

Clients are distributed across a mix of property types including houses, bungalows and flats. All customers have been fully converted to a water-fed pole cleaning system, which is well accepted and contributes to efficient, repeatable operations.

Cleaning frequencies vary depending on customer preference and property type, including monthly, bi-monthly, three-monthly and on-request services. This flexible model supports stable recurring income while leaving room for growth.

Individual job values range from approximately £5 to £70 per visit. Annual turnover is currently estimated between £17,000 and £20,000, generated with relatively low weekly working hours.

Payments are made via a mix of bank transfer and cash. The business benefits from an excellent payment record, with virtually no bad debt and only occasional reminders required.

Customer loyalty is a key strength of the business. A significant core of clients have been with the business for many years, some since its early days. Client turnover exists, as with any service business, but departures are typically due to customers relocating rather than dissatisfaction.

Demand currently exceeds available capacity. New customer enquiries are received regularly, and some work has had to be declined due to limited time availability. A new owner could immediately improve service frequency and unlock additional revenue by increasing working hours or expanding capacity.

Operations

The business operates using a modern water-fed pole system, delivering consistent, professional results while remaining easy to maintain and operate. All clients are fully accustomed to this method, ensuring efficient, repeatable work with minimal setup time.

Routes are well defined and geographically compact, resulting in low running costs and a strong hourly rate. Each round can be operated independently and, if required, can be split or sold separately, offering flexibility for different buyer profiles.

Equipment and a fully fitted van are available by separate negotiation. This makes the business suitable both for an established window cleaner looking to expand and for a buyer starting from scratch.

The business is currently owner-operated but offers clear potential for expansion through increased working hours or additional capacity. With its streamlined structure and loyal client base, it provides a stable and rewarding operation with a healthy work–life balance.

The sale is due to retirement, and the business has been organised to allow a smooth transition for the new owner.

Handover and Support

A structured handover period is included in the sale to ensure a smooth transition and strong client retention. I will provide a minimum of one month of handover support, with the option to extend this period by mutual agreement depending on the buyer’s experience and requirements.

During the handover, I can accompany the buyer on existing rounds where appropriate, introduce them to clients, and ensure continuity of service. Clients are accustomed to seeing the same cleaner, which helps maintain trust and consistency.

Training can be provided if required. This may include operational guidance, route organisation, pricing structure, customer communication and administrative processes. This makes the business suitable both for a first-time buyer and for an established window cleaner looking to expand their existing rounds.

Additional support beyond the initial handover period can be arranged on a flexible basis and discussed directly with the buyer.

All client data is handled in line with GDPR requirements. Client contact details are not transferred without appropriate consent, and introductions are managed in a compliant and professional manner.

I am retiring and am committed to ensuring a clean, well-managed transition, with the objective of maintaining customer satisfaction and income continuity for the new owner.
